Review โญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

I’m kind of asking my self why I should bother raiting the book more than one or less star if the author couldn’t be bothered to come up with a new story? I know it’s harsh bot non the less what I feel. This book is so much like the first one in the series – I’m lusting after you and I can’t have you… Oh dear, not again. It’s not that lusting after someone you can’t have turns me off, au contrair my dear, it’s a good plot. But not two books in a row in the same seriew. Now if the series were 5 books or more you could revisit the issue but carefully.

The best part of this book is the age gab, daddy and boy roleplay, I like it. The author could probally have pulled it off if adding something else to the story, like a drama with the ex, drama with Brent’s son, just something else. It gets kind of monotone. Should the author deside to add more to the series – I do have a few in mind. Then please be more creative.

Can you lick the rainbow?

I kind of wonder I you could lick the rainbow what would it taste like, sugar? I think so. What brought this on. Well this book is so sweet so I thought about it, I know, silly. I actually have never read anything by this author before, but I will.

You can’t help falling in love with the mc’s. Win is a man with secrets, bisexual, ex-con he know that but boss’ son Troy is off limit. Win is big with tatoos (I like๐Ÿ˜‹) Troy on the other hand has had a crush on Win since forever, but it can nerver happen.

Some like them sweet, I do, that’s why I loved this book. I would have loved a bit for angst and maybe a bit for fight for love. Maybe Tory’s dad could have been a bigger part of the story in the match making for his son. Maybe Troy could have gone out on a date, you hear the he does but there only the mention of it. Maybe the date could have been discribed more, who did he meet with? Where did they go? Maybe Win could have gotten jalous, I just feel like the story have it’s black holes to be complete The story seams to focus on Isabella (the child) though she does not really intervien in the story between Win or Troy, she’s just there as a part of their everyday life that seams to bled more and more together. But she’s not disturbing the story so I’ll give the authour credit for that.

The overall conclusing for me must be, a bit more fighting, a bit more angst and that would earned the book the last star.

Off to the next book in the series “Chance at the Impossible” by the same author. To qout Arnold schwarzenegger ‘I’ll be back’

City, Country Series by Mia Terry โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Book 1 Country Cop, City Boy – Authors blurb from Goodreads:
For ex-party boy Jai Latimore, moving to the country as a radiographer means a new start. Heโ€™s excited to be part of a rural community, even knowing that eligible gay men are going to be thin on the ground.
Giving up his love life is one thing, but he doesnโ€™t expect the outright hostility he receives from the local police officer. Jai canโ€™t help but wonder if he made a mistake taking a job so far from home.
Sgt. Luke McClain definitely doesnโ€™t want to desire Jai. Luke long ago decided being gay wasnโ€™t an option as long as he was a country cop in a small town. Itโ€™s easier to be rude to the attractive radiographerโ€”until some painkillers and a slip in Lukeโ€™s tightly held control reveal too much. Jai decides the closeted cop needs a friend who knows his secrets. With no other likely candidates around, Jai pushes his friendship on prickly Luke.
When friendship turns to something more, both men have to decide whether their histories and fears for their futures are worth giving up hot sex and possibly love.

Book 2 City Suit, Country Boy- Authors blub from Goodreads:

Advertising executive Kris Worth has carefully arranged his life according to his own specifications. He knows what it is to lose control, and will never let that happen again. But in the year since his best friend found love and moved to the country, heโ€™s begun to notice a shortage of meaningful connections in his relationships. Auto mechanic Billy Driscollโ€™s life is in free fall. His involuntary outing and a brutal beating at the hands of his brother have left him no alternative but to accept help in the form of an offer to move from the remote rural hamlet of Dungoon to urban Sydney. When former roommate Jai asks Kris to take Billy in, the prospect of babysitting a damaged country boy is daunting, but he finds he canโ€™t say no. Each of these men is in for some surprises as he discovers his assumptions about the other may have been wildly inaccurate. They manage to find common groundโ€”steamy sex can work wonders in that regardโ€” but will they be able to move beyond their histories and turn their combustible chemistry into a lasting relationship?

Both books was published in 2018, I haven’t been able to find a publisher so no publisher is mentioned.

Review โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

THis was the first time I read something from this author. I going back to read her books again for sure.

I had a hard time with this. The first book was better than the second. Mainly because it features Luke the hot cop. No that’s not all. The storyline was ok, however many authours tend to make the same mistake. The build up the tension between the two mc’s to have sex and when it happens it seams to be the focus point of the rest of the book, and thats where you loose me. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the sex, the vivid discriptions, but when that becomes the main focus of the story it’s bad. It’s kind of like you are happy for the first 100 miles in your new car and then It just feels flat.

I have a preference. I like big strong guy to be the top and smaller guy to bottom. I’m not sure why. But it does something to me when they switch, I don’t really like it, but I’m not goint to flaw the author for my preference that wouldn’t be fair

I’m not really sure why Luke (book one) is so scared of coming out. There isn’t much homophobia in the story other than what Luke pictures in his head. Lukes brother throw some homophobic slurs a few times, but even he falls into place without much drama when his son comes out as gay. I was kind of disappointed when Luke went to Mardi Gras, it would have been nice if he was a bit more reluctant, he is in the closet after all. But it kind of falls flat. Maybe some drama from from Jai’s previous life, his parents something just something that would have given the story and edge.

Kris in book two is scared of relationsships. He had a bad one when he was doing alchol and drugs, I can understand why and yet not really, he just doesn’t do relationsships, maybe a bit more elaboration why would have been better. You don’t get an insigth into why the relationship was bad other than the alchol and drugs.

I also would have liked for the author to be a bit more creative in the theme of the two books. One book about a closet case is ok, but when you reuse the setting in another book it’s just like a copy though the Luke’s and Billy’s stories are diffrent. Where Luke stubbently refuses to come out because he’s affraid, Billy was forces/beaten out of the closet. But again a new theme for the second books would have been great.

One of the best part of these books are the characters, they are really great and loveble. Especially Luke and Billy, I like them. I like country boys/men there is something cute about them.

Great stories , but could have been better.

How do you choose the books you read?

It’s both and easy and a hard question to answer. Sometimes it pops up in my mailbox from authors I follow, I subscribe to their newsletter. Sometimes I find books on Facebook in various groups that I follow. Sometimes I get the interest from Goodreads, either by searching for books that has similar interest to what I like to read and sometimes just random books that pop-up in the news feeds or liked by other people.

Now I guess that was the easy part, not so easy if you ask me. Finding books that I like is not THAT easy. Because once you find them you will have to choose if that book is for you. Authors you know is kind of an easy pick – I tend to use the keywords that describe the books, if it says anything about paranormal I avoid them like the plage, some people like them, I don’t. I think it the whole Tvillight face, I’m so over it. If the books has been published I usually read the reviews from other readers, I always try to read some of the good (5 stars) and some of the less good (1 or less star) reviews, sort of to get the whole picture.

Does other people affect my opinion? Not really. Just like with people I try to from my own opinion about things, books included. I just use the reviews as as guidline.

Covers ect.

Covers does’t really do it for me, sure a hot cover doesn’t really turn me off. But as the saying goes: Don’t judge the book by it cover ๐Ÿ™‚ So true if you ask me. A cover can do a lot of things visually, but it doesn’t say much about the content, does it? A cowboy and a cop. Maybe you can guess that they are the main characters of the story, but the storyline is not a part of the cover and nor do I think it should be, it really just is something to catch your eye. I’m not going to pretend that I totally ignore the cover that would probably would be an outright lie. When I scroll down over a list of books, hmmm I see something interesting. I guess that corespond pretty well with what I wrote – it catches your eye. But again I would choose a book from the cover alone. Descriptions are important to me, that’s what I mainly choose from I guess, does that sound like something I like.

A few authors are must read for me. Should I tell you who? Nah! I don’t think so. However being my favourite authors that doesn’t automatically equals a good review, I read both good and bad books by the same author. A must read for me is just the same as, I generally like their books/their stories, so yes they do tend to get a good review, just don’t think that it’s because they are who they are, it is because they are good writers.

So how do you choose your books?

Its been hot

This could be a start of a review, but it really is not. Like the rest of Europe, Denmark has been hit by a heatwave. It hasn’t really been that bad here in the eastern part of the country where I am, but still hot enough. One of my favourite places to be in the heat is under our cherry tree in the garden, reading of cause, shadow and a cold breeze, what more could you want.

I don’t have a kindle, I’ve been thinking about getting one, but then I looked and I couldn’t really decide what to get, any recommendations? I usually just use my Iphone to read. I do have a kindle app on it so I can read mobi-files, but mostly I read books on Ibooks (the app that comes with Iphone). I mostly buy my books from there as well, but some authors don’t sell via Apple, so if I can I’ll buy them form the publisher. I can’t explain why I’m not a kindle fan, maybe it’s because Amazone don’t sell here in Denmark. That doesn’t mean that I can’t buy, I just can’t get the prices in DKK and I have to do the math myself – I know lazy-ass me ๐Ÿ™‚

Home Improvement by Tara Lain

Home Improvement

Home Improvement by Tara Lain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WHAT an amazing story. I LOVED IT.

Gabe works at a home improvement store. Jerry comes in to buy supplies for his home renovation. Gabe gets persuaded into helping the lost Jerry and oversee his home improvement project.
Gabe has to juggle his time between his daughter (teen dad), his job at the store and now the new project at Jerry’s.

On the mention of Jet, and the fact that Jerry disguise himself, you kind of easily guess that they are one and the same person. However that doesn’t really make the story bad, you kind of just start to wonder when Gabe and his daughter will find out who he really is.

The story is so beautiful, the development between the MC’s are great. Gabe and Jerry are both loveable personalities, you easily fall in love with them. Gabe being the gentle giant and Jerry trying to hide his true identity but he is so nice, maybe at time a bit naive (not sure that’s the right word to use about him), but still cute.

HEA, of cause, did you expect anything else. This is just my kind of story.

My First Blog Post – not really :-)

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

โ€” Oscar Wilde.

Ok let me be honest. This isn’t really my first blog post. Well technically its my first post on this blog, but I’ve done it before. I had a personal blog for some years (ended up deleting it) mainly because I couldn’t keep it up to date, I was simply too busy in my life. In the end it seamed kind of lame to return a year or more later and try to update it.

You might find flaws, errors, typos ect. some of it is beacuse I’m not native English speaking, though I would like to pride myself being both speaking and reading English, and some is just what it is errors and typos.

If you look at my Goodreads profile, it might seam like I don’t read much. So not true, it’s just not up to date, I read tons of books, to many if you ask my husband. But once I get started I just can’t seam to finish.

This is Me

This is me always makes me think of the movie “The Greatest Showman” But no kidding – This is me

I’m forty five and fabulous if I may say so ๐Ÿ™‚

Who am I?

I am a MM romance reader by heart. I don’t really remember how it started, but I think I accidentally came across a MM romance book and BINGO I was hooked.

Questions?

You can ask me anything you like. I might not want to answer, I’ll tell you ๐Ÿ™‚

As you should know by now I’m 45 years old. I live in Denmark (Europe), if you don’t know where Denmark is. Germany to the south,, Sweden to the east, Norway to the North and England to the west.
I live just outside Copenhagen, the capital of this magnificent country, with my husband, dog and our stolen cat *LOL* Ok, I guess the stolen cat deserves an explanation.

The neighbour had a cat, a big fat ginger cat and a dog – things were great for the cat and dog. But then they got another dog. Cat and new don’t get along great, so basically the cat packed it’s stuff and moved in with us, and what a life he has. We have our own dog (labrador) but she’s shared of him, so no problem there.

More about me ๐Ÿ™‚

I work as a secetary that my day job, evening sometimes, I work far too much if you ask me, but I like it. I have a huge caring heart, I used to work in retirement homes, nursing homes ect. so caring for other people is in my blod. Unfortunately I can’t do that anymore due to an illness in my feet that makes it impossible for me to walk for longer periods aka I can’t be on my feet all day, I’ll get an inflammation in the tendons in my feet.

ARC (advance readers copies)

Fell free to contact me if you want to me read an ARC copy of you book. I will, in return leave a review on Goodreads, Instagram and twitter as well as here. I will of cause respect you copyright and NOT share your work on any platforms, just so we are clear.

What I don’t read and why

Do you remember reading a review for a movie or a concert or something else and thinking, did we go to the same place? I certainly do. I’ve been to concerts, plays and before or after reading a review thinking – did we actually attend the same thing. That’s why I don’t review books I don’t like. You can se it as a respect for the work the author has put into the book, I respect that, I really do, so there is absolutely no reason for me to trash it just because I don’t like the genre.

  • Shifters or paranormal
    • I don’t undertand gost or men who can change from wolfs, cats, dogs into a human form
  • Hard BDSM or SM
    • I don’t mind a smack on the ass during sex, the the whole robe and whip thing, not really my scene. I will, blushing, admit that I did read one or two books that I liked.
  • MMM, MF or MMF or what ever.
    • I’m a vanilla guy when it comes to what I like to read. Please just one guy falls in love with another guy. I can’t get the whole dynamic of more that two people falling in love with.
  • Short stories (I try to avoid them)
    • Short stories can be ok, I’m not saying I avoid them, they are what they are, short. I tend to find them forced, like to have to put too much info into too little space. But I won’t say no to reading them.
